Il quartetto di Marcello Molinari, di cui faccio parte, sta portando avanti l’ambizioso progetto di realizzare un disco a nome di ciascuno dei suoi componenti, che possono così trovare a turno spazio come leader e compositori, decidendone di volta in volta la direzione musicale. Dopo «The Mask», uscito a nome di Andrea Ferrario, e «Il Viaggio di Neal», firmato da Molinari, «Voices of the Stones» è il terzo episodio di questo percorso, realizzato come i precedenti con Caligola Records.

L’idea dell’album è quella di ricercare un legame ancestrale con le nostre origini ed il nostro passato, per farli rivivere attraverso ambientazioni contemporanee, cercando di esplorare territori e sonorità provenienti da spazi ed epoche differenti. Nel brano Dimension of Emptiness è presente come ospite il trombettista norvegese Arne Hiorth, musicista di statura europea e di grandissima sensibilità, con cui abbiamo avuto più volte il piacere di collaborare ed a cui va il nostro grazie più sincero. Un analogo ringraziamento va ad un altro straordinario trombettista, Paolo Fresu, che ha ascoltato e dimostrato di apprezzare il lavoro, incoraggiandoci così a pubblicarlo. Merita inoltre d’esser ringraziato chi ha contribuito in qualche modo alla realizzazione del disco, ma anche tutte quelle persone, non solo musicisti, che ci hanno ispirato e ci sono state vicine in questo lungo viaggio. Ringraziamo infine chi si prenderà il tempo necessario per ascoltare «Voices of the Stones»: saremmo davvero felici se la musica riuscisse a trasmettere anche soltanto qualcuna delle nostre emozioni.

The Marcello Molinari quartet has the ambitious project of making an album in the name of each of its members. Each musician has the opportunity to become the leader and composer, curating its musical direction. After «The Mask», released on behalf of the saxophonist, Andrea Ferrario, and «Il Viaggio di Neal», by the drummer, Marcello Molinari, I am proud to present «Voices of the Stones», the third episode of this journey, produced, as with the others, by Caligola Records.
The idea of the album is to seek an ancestral link with our origins and our past, to give them new life through a modern lens, exploring territories and sounds coming from different spheres and eras. The track Dimension of Emptiness features the Norwegian trumpeter Arne Hiorth, a musician of European stature and of great sensitivity, with whom we have had the pleasure of collaborating numerous times and to whom we send our most sincere thanks. Our gratitude further extends to another extraordinary trumpeter, Paolo Fresu, who listened and showed his appreciation of our work, thus encouraging us to publish it. Also deserving of our thanks are those who contributed in some way to the making of this album, as well as those who inspired us and were close to us throughout this long journey.
Finally, we thank those who will take the time to listen to «Voices of the Stones»: ours will be a job well done if our music is able to communicate even just some of our emotions.
